Detailed E-Mobility example included with KULI 9.1 installation

Included with the setup of KULI 9.1, you will find a realistic example for an electric/-hybrid car (ExEngine_HYBRID_adv.scs). In order to help you more easily bridge the gap between grey theory and practical application,     

this example contains all our new electric components:

  • A liquid cooled battery pack, including 8 modules (each equipped with 12 cells providing a dynamic RC model)
  • DCDC for the power supply of the low voltage components
  • An inverter as the interface between direct and alternating current
  • An electric machine

In this example, the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is virtually applied to a midsized hybrid car and provides fully transient simulation data. Due to a control-strategy including boost and generator mode, the influence on the conventional combustion engine can be investigated.  By using KULI lab, the user can easily analyze effects like the influence of the coolant flow layout inside the battery on the temperature distribution.

In this example the serial arrangement of the cells inside a module leads to a temperature span of more than 2K between the coldest and the hottest cell.

Of course, transient electric properties like SOC or terminal voltage (depending on SOC and temperature) are also provided by KULI.

Finally the new components not only integrate very well into cooling circuits, but it is also possible to use them in combination with HVAC investigations. The KULI cabin model can help to better understand the complex interactions between hybrid strategy and passenger comfort.
