KULI 9.1. Features and Improvements

New KULI 9.1 release contains
powerful improvements concerning:

  • E-mobility,  
  • Electric battery model and 
  • Power Electronics.

Apart from some general improvements, KULI 9.1 is really all about e-mobility

  • Electric Battery Model:
    KULI 9.0 already made it possible to model individual battery cells... In KULI 9.1, these cells can be integrated with battery modules and battery packs. KULI uses symmetry to model these complex structures with very little effort from the user. Simply specify a symmetric battery cell layout, and KULI will do the rest automatically. Although the user-interface looks very simple, it is possible to access individual cell temperatures and properties, both for sensory access (e.g. to model battery controls) and post-processing in KULI lab.

    It is also possible to create area plots to visualize temperature distributions inside your battery pack. We have added the option to use a dynamic RC-model for thermal losses, in addition to the static R-model already available.
  • Power Electronics:
    In order to simulate a complete electric vehicle, KULI also provides simulation models for electric inverters and converters. These components are built around operating-point-dependent efficiency maps, allow both active and passive cooling and can be integrated into thermal networks, if required.

  • Together with the features already released in version 9.0, KULI now includes simulation models for:
    • Electric motors / generators,
    • Power electronics (DC/DC and DC/AC)
    • Electric battery cells, modules and packs
    • Electric auxiliaries (fan, pump, compressor)

  • Electric component cooling seamlessly integrates with HVAC topics (e.g. cabin models) and engine cooling (for hybrid cars).
